If you use computers and other computer accessories, such as printers, in your work environment than you probably already know what dust can do to them. Dust collects in areas like cooling fans and vents until it totally clogs these areas up. This in turn results in the equipment over heating because it can't cool itself off efficiently. Over heating can eventually result in equipment failures as well.

In general, we all take some measures to try to protect these machines from breaking down. However, dust seems to not be at the top of that list for most people. If you have paid hundreds of dollars for a printer, you probably want to protect it by also purchasing a dust cover as well. You can find them all over the place in a lot of different colors and patterns so they don't look so boring.

Vinyl covers are smooth and repel water. They come in a large range of colors and can be placed over printers when they won't be in use. Vinyl is typically the least expensive of all printer covers you will find.

The downfall to this type is that you have to take them on and off whenever you need to use the printer. This can be a problem at times when you are using a printer very frequently. These covers would work better in an area where the printer will not be used very often. Or at least in this case, it would make it much less of a hassle to use them.

"Breathable" covers can now be found which are made from a polyester material. You can buy them to fit any type of printer as well and they are left on all the time. This keeps you from having to put the cover back on every time you use the printer. In essence, these covers act like filters for the fans and ventilation of the printer.

Because we can't usually see how much dust has built up on the inside of our equipment we don't often give any consideration to keep them clean and dust free. Usually, only after something as overheated and broken do we look to dust protection as a preventative measure.

By implementing these measures now you can prevent all of these problems from ever happening in the first place. Start now so you can build a routine of keeping your equipment protected and you will never have a problem with dust again.
